School Leadership

The British Council’s leadership programme for head teachers and senior educators outside the UK provides tailor-made training to turn effective managers into inspiring leaders.

This training programme not only offers professional development to school leaders, but also equips them to strengthen the curriculum in their own school integrating an international dimension with a focus on education for global citizenship.

Designed and tested by specialists in school leadership and experienced facilitators, the programme consists of 20 modules. The modules can be delivered in different formats and customised into personalised training packages to suit educators’ needs.

The themes of the modules are:

  • Developing a vision and culture for your school
  • Leading on teaching and learning
  • Building teams and developing staff
  • Developing excellent personal leadership
  • Leading on student development
  • Leadership in a global context
  • Leading through change
  • Reaching out to the community
  • Inclusive education

We recognise that local ministries, education authorities, agencies, and schools are in the best position to understand their head teachers’ professional needs.

British Council staff can help you to identify the most appropriate modules and design a course that will empower head teachers to make a positive and lasting difference to teaching and learning in their schools.
